A Smoker is More Likely To Quit Smoking If There Are Pets

A study conducted by the Henry Ford Health System investigated smoking policies in the homes of pet owners, and the attitudes surrounding the smoking behavior.

The study found that almost a third of pet owners who are smokers, would feel the pressure to quit smoking.  A focus of the study was also aimed at determining whether educational campaigns would have influence on a smoker's decision.

The results of the study showed that:

Over 28% of smokers who are pet owners would be motivated to quit if they received information concerning the health of animals and exposure to cigarette smoke.
